New Delhi, April 02 (H.S.): The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Election Officer and the adhoc committee regarding petitions seeking the cancellation of elections for the Rouse Avenue Court Bar Association for the Central Delhi Court Bar Association. Justice Mini Pushkarna has directed the Election Officer and the adhoc committee to file a response within a week. The next hearing of the case will be held on April 22.
During the hearing, petitioner Sunil Kumar, who contested the election for the vice president position of the Central Delhi Court Bar Association, and the lawyer Ravindra S. Gariya representing N.A. Sebastian stated that the voters' list had not been published by the date of the election. They argued that without the publication of the voters' list, the entire election process is meaningless. They demanded the cancellation of this election.
During the hearing, Sanjeev Sharma, who contested for the position of secretary of the Central Delhi Court Bar Association, stated that the Election Officer, Ravindra Kumar Raizada, was appointed just ten days before the election. He had no prior experience in organizing elections. Due to this, extensive fraud occurred. He claimed that more votes were counted than the number officially declared during the election. He mentioned that voting took place until 7:40 PM on March 21.
Elections for bar associations in all courts, including the Delhi High Court, were held on March 21. Complaints of fraud, disorder, and mismanagement were received during these elections. In the Karkardooma Court and Saket Court, elections were even canceled, and those cases are currently pending in the High Court.
