New Delhi, April 1 (H.S.): Under Operation 'Brahma,' initiated by India in response to the earthquake in Myanmar, two navy ships delivered relief materials to Yangon on Tuesday morning. India's Ambassador, Bharat Thakur, presented 30 tons of aid, including food, medical supplies, and tents, to Chief Minister U Soe Thien.
The INS Gharial departed from Visakhapatnam for Yangon, while the ships Karamuk and LCU-52 had arrived from the Andaman and Nicobar Command, bringing essential supplies like clothing, drinking water, and medicine. INS Gharial carried around 440 tons of further relief, including rice and cooking oil. Additionally, INS Satpura and INS Savitri reached Yangon with 40 tons of humanitarian aid. The Indian Navy, as the region's first responder, prioritized relief and rescue operations, and the Indian Air Force contributed by sending six aircraft to deliver extensive assistance to major cities, including Yangon, Naypyidaw, and Mandalay.
