Kathmandu, April 2 (H. S.): During the meeting held in Bangkok on Wednesday between Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is on an official visit to Thailand, and Thailand's Prime Minister Paetongtran Shinawatra, discussions were held to further strengthen bilateral relations. Several agreements were signed following the bilateral talks between the two Prime Ministers.
Nepal's Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, who was present at the meeting between the Prime Ministers of the two countries, stated that it is historic for Nepal's Prime Minister to make an official visit after 65 years of diplomatic relations with Thailand. Prior to this, Thailand's Prime Minister welcomed Prime Minister Oli at a government building. According to the Foreign Ministry, after the meeting between the Prime Ministers of both countries, an agreement related to cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism was signed. On behalf of Nepal, Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu signed the agreement.
In the same way, six different memoranda of understanding have been exchanged between non-governmental and business organizations of both countries. Both Prime Ministers emphasized exchanging cooperation in tourism, education, and the technical field at a joint press conference. The Prime Minister will participate in a lunch held today with his Thai counterpart and will also have a courtesy meeting with King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand today. Prime Minister Oli is set to participate in the BIMSTEC summit taking place in Bangkok on April 4-5.
