Dhaka, April 1 (H.S.): Khalida Zia, president of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and former Prime Minister, urged for unity to foster a better future and establish democracy in Bangladesh during a virtual address from London.
Speaking to senior party leaders and attendees in Dhaka on Eid-ul-Fitr and Independence Day, she extended wishes for both occasions and highlighted the importance of cooperation in achieving democratic goals.
The event, hosted at her Gulshan office, featured BNP's acting president, Tarique Rahman, joining virtually from London. Khalida emphasized the significance of party members' sacrifices, urging collective efforts to secure citizens' voting rights. Sharing emotional moments after a long separation, she also conveyed Eid greetings to the nation, reinforcing her commitment to the people’s democratic rights. Khalida has been in London for several months for medical treatment.
