New Delhi, April 01 (H.S.): With the beginning of the new financial year 2025-26, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue collection has once again filled the government's coffers. In March, the GST revenue collection increased by 9.9% year-on-year to over ₹1.96 lakh crore, compared to ₹1.84 lakh crore in the previous month, February.

The GST Directorate General released data on Tuesday, stating that in March, the GST revenue collection increased by 9.9% to over ₹1.96 lakh crore. The central GST collection stood at ₹38,100 crore, while the state GST collection reached ₹49,900 crore. Additionally, the integrated GST collection in March was ₹95,900 crore, and the GST cess collection amounted to ₹12,300 crore.

According to the data, domestic transactions contributed to a GST revenue collection that rose by 8.8% to ₹1.49 lakh crore in March, while revenue from imported goods increased by 13.56% to ₹46,919 crore. During March, total refunds rose by 41% to ₹19,615 crore. After adjusting for refunds, the net GST revenue collection in March 2025 was over ₹1.76 lakh crore, which is 7.3% higher compared to the same period a year ago.

Notably, this marks the 13th consecutive month that GST revenue collection has been above ₹1.7 lakh crore. In this quarter, GST revenue collection amounted to ₹5.8 lakh crore, which is 10.4% higher compared to the same period last year. The highest GST revenue collection to date was ₹2.10 lakh crore in April 2024.
