New Delhi, April 2 (H.S.): The Coal Ministry achieved historic success by setting a new record in captive and commercial coal production and dispatch for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025. Both captive and commercial mines significantly contributed to this success.
In a statement released by the Coal Ministry on Wednesday, it was mentioned that total coal production increased to 190.95 million tons (MT) by March 31, 2025, representing a remarkable increase of 29.79% compared to the 147.11 million tons recorded in the previous fiscal year. There was also extraordinary growth in coal dispatch, which reached 190.42 million tons, an increase of 33.36% over the 142.79 million tons registered in the fiscal year 2023-24.
According to the ministry, both captive and commercial mines played a crucial role in this achievement. Captive mines achieved a 24.72% increase in production and a 27.76% increase in dispatch compared to the previous fiscal year, ensuring continuous supply to key industries. According to the Coal Ministry, commercial mines led the momentum with an unprecedented growth of 67.32% in production and a 76.71% increase in dispatch compared to the previous year, which is a testament to the expansion and efficiency of India's coal sector.
