Flights to London and Thoothukudi Cancelled at Chennai Airport, Leaving Passengers Stranded

Chennai, 1 April (H.S.) : Passengers at Chennai International Airport faced a harrowing experience on Tuesday as flights to London and Thoothukudi were cancelled due to technical issues and operational constraints.

According to airport officials, a British Airways flight to London, scheduled to depart at 8:30 am, was cancelled due to a technical snag. The flight was fully booked, leaving over 200 passengers stranded.

In another incident, a SpiceJet flight to Thoothukudi, scheduled to depart at 12:30 pm, was cancelled due to operational constraints. Passengers affected by the cancellations expressed frustration and disappointment, citing inadequate communication from the airlines and airport authorities.

We were not informed about the cancellation until we reached the airport, said a passenger who was scheduled to fly to London. We are now stuck here with no clear information on when the next flight will be available.

Airport officials apologized for the inconvenience and assured passengers that alternative arrangements were being made to accommodate them on the next available flights.

The cancellations have highlighted concerns about the reliability of air services and the need for improved communication between airlines, airport authorities, and passengers.
