Guwahati, 25 March (HS): Assam Pradesh BJP has strongly condemned the attack on Assam Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Dr. Numal Momin by Bengali-origin Congress MLA Nurul Huda. BJP has demanded appropriate legal action against the guilty Congress MLA. Along with this, a memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Commissioners by protesting in all the district headquarters across the state on Tuesday to protect the dignity and democratic tradition of the Assembly.

A statement issued from the state BJP office said that this incident will be recorded as a black chapter in the history of Assam Legislative Assembly. A chaotic situation never seen before arose in the sacred assembly. In the statement, the attack on Deputy Speaker Dr. Numal Momin by Congress MLA Nurul Huda was termed as reprehensible and shameful.

The BJP also said that the disturbance caused by the AIUDF MLAs in the House has hurt the traditions of Assamese society. The BJP termed the aggressive attitude of the Congress and AIUDF MLAs as a threat to the future of Assam and warned that this aggressive mindset will never be accepted.

The statement said that the people of Assam are worried about this behavior of the Congress and AIUDF MLAs. This is the first time such an act has taken place in the Assam Assembly. The BJP termed this attack by the Congress MLA as a warning bell for the Assamese society and demanded the immediate arrest of Nurul Huda. Also, strict action was demanded against the chaos created by the AIUDF MLAs in the Assembly.
