Cancer Hospital in Odisha's Keonjhar Set to Begin Operations in April 2025

Bhubaneswar, 25 March (H.S.)The long-awaited cancer hospital in Keonjhar district, Odisha, is in its final stages of construction and is expected to begin operations in April 2025.

This new facility will offer advanced cancer treatment services to patients not only from Keonjhar but also from nearby districts. The hospital is designed with a focus on providing modern chemotherapy treatments for cancer patients in the region.

The project received approval from the Atomic Energy Research Board of the Central Government, after which the Odisha government granted the necessary sanction for its establishment.

Following discussions between experts from the Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute of Cancer in Cuttack and the Keonjhar district administration, it was decided to build the hospital within the premises of Dharanidhar Medical College and Hospital.

Funded with approximately Rs 38 crore from the District Mineral Foundation (DMF), the project was initially slated for completion by December 2023 and later revised to October 2024. Despite facing delays, the construction is now nearing completion.

With infrastructure in place, the hospital is set to open its doors in April 2025, offering crucial cancer care services and filling a significant healthcare gap for the region’s patients.
