Kolkata, 17 March (H.S.) -

Ahead of the West Bengal BJP’s state president election, party leaders Sukanta Majumdar and Suvendu Adhikari are set to hold a crucial meeting in New Delhi on Monday evening. The meeting will also be attended by all BJP MPs from Bengal. The primary agenda is to enhance internal coordination within the party and strategize for the upcoming assembly elections.

The decision to hold the meeting in Delhi is primarily due to the ongoing parliamentary session. According to BJP sources, since Sukanta Majumdar and other MPs are occupied with parliamentary duties, organizing the meeting in Kolkata would have been inconvenient, requiring MPs to travel back and forth. Holding the meeting in Delhi ensures minimal disruption to their schedules.

Sources indicate that discussions will focus on the role of MPs in the 2026 West Bengal assembly elections. The meeting will outline how MPs can strengthen the party organization in their respective constituencies and coordinate effectively with BJP MLAs. Additionally, strategies will be devised to ensure that Bengal BJP's stance is effectively conveyed to the Election Commission from Delhi.

A special discussion on the upcoming Ram Navami celebrations is also expected. Ram Navami has become a significant event for the BJP in Bengal, and the party aims to use it as a platform for mass outreach.

BJP sources suggest that the state president election could take place within a few days. Before that, the central leadership wants Sukanta Majumdar and Suvendu Adhikari to resolve any differences and work together cohesively. In recent weeks, the party’s national leadership has met both leaders separately and conveyed their stance on the upcoming state president selection. Following these discussions, both leaders have been actively working on strengthening internal coordination. This meeting is a step in that direction.
