Piyush Goyal inaugurates National IP Moot Court Competition


New Delhi, 07 February (HS): Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday inaugurated the Vidhi Pragati: National IP Moot Court Competition, 2025 ceremony held in the capital New Delhi. Goyal said in his address on this occasion that the Central Government will provide assistance to the students selected for the International Moot Court Competition.

The Union Commerce and Industry Minister said that the students selected for an international moot court competition on International Property Rights (IPR) will be sponsored by the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (CGPDTM). The Commerce Minister suggested that IPR should be made a compulsory subject in law colleges across the country. He said that law should be understood with the concepts of right and wrong, in which AI can play an important role.

According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, this competition is designed to enable participants to enhance their advocacy skills, work on contemporary legal issues and gain comprehensive knowledge of intellectual property laws, its enforcement and latest case laws. DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, in collaboration with the Center for Innovation, Intellectual Property and Competition (CIIPC) and IPR Chair, National Law University Delhi is organizing Vidhi Pragati: National IP Moot Court Competition, 2025.

It is worth mentioning that this major event, which will run from 7 to 9 February 2025, will see participation from law schools across the country, promoting a lively spirit of debate and discussion among scholars. A total of 26 teams are ready to perform their best while demonstrating competitive spirit. Also, with a prize pool of Rs 3.25 lakh, this debate will adequately reward the investment of time and resources in participation.
