Delhi, 3 July (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Ghana's President Dr. John Dramani Mahama during his first State Visit to Ghana in three decades on Wednesday . The leaders engaged in restricted and delegation-level talks, agreeing to elevate their relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership. They reaffirmed strong ties and explored cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, digital technology, infrastructure, and people-to-people connections. The growing bilateral trade and Indian investments in Ghana were acknowledged, and discussions included enhancing defense and security partnerships. India committed to sharing experiences in health, pharmaceuticals, digital public infrastructure, and skill development. PM Modi expressed India's dedication to supporting the concerns of the Global South and appreciated Ghana's care for the Indian community there.
The talks also addressed global challenges, including UN reforms and counter-terrorism, with PM Modi thanking Mahama for solidarity following the Pahalgam terror attack. Both leaders highlighted commitments to democratic values, South-South cooperation, and sustainable development. Four MoUs were signed covering culture, standards, Ayurveda, and a Joint Commission Mechanism for foreign ministries. A State Banquet was hosted by Mahama in honor of PM Modi, who invited him to visit India at a convenient time.

PM Modi stated that the award enhances the friendship between India and Ghana and emphasized his commitment to advancing their partnership, hoping his State Visit will further boost ties.
This honour is also a responsibility; to keep working towards stronger India-Ghana friendship. India will always stand with the people of Ghana and continue to contribute as a trusted friend and development partner,PM Modi said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a historic five-nation tour scheduled from July 2-9, with visits to Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia.
