MoUs exchanged between India and Ghana following PM Modi's delegation-level meeting with President of Ghana, John Mahama, at Jubilee House in Accra.


Delhi, 3 July (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi's State Visit to Ghana on Wednesday marked a significant moment in bilateral relations as he met President Dr. John Dramani Mahama. The leaders held discussions leading to a comprehensive partnership, focusing on cooperation in various sectors like trade, agriculture, and digital technology. They acknowledged the rise in bilateral trade and Indian investments in Ghana, and proposed enhanced defense and security collaborations. India will share expertise in health, pharmaceuticals, and skill development. The talks covered global issues such as UN reforms and counter-terrorism.PM Modi received the Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana award, which he dedicated to India's citizens, symbolizing a strengthened friendship and commitment to mutual growth.

Following the delegation level talks,four MoUs were exchanged covering culture, standards, Ayurveda and Traditional Medicine, and a Joint Commission Mechanism.

-MoU on Cultural Exchange Programme (CEP): To promote greater cultural understanding and exchanges in art, music, dance, literature, and heritage.

-MoU between Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) & Ghana Standards Authority (GSA): Aimed at enhancing cooperation in standardization, certification, and conformity assessment.

-MoU between Institute of Traditional & Alternative Medicine (ITAM), Ghana and Institute of Teaching & Research in Ayurveda (ITRA), India: To collaborate in traditional medicine education, training, and research.

-MoU on Joint Commission Meeting: To institutionalize high-level dialogue and review bilateral cooperation mechanisms on a regular basis.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a historic five-nation tour scheduled from July 2- 9, with visits to Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia.
