Guwahati, 25 February (HS): Latashil police of Guwahati has arrested an elderly man for sexually assaulting a minor girl.

Acting on a report lodged at the police station, the CGPD team of Latashil police station arrested Shankar Basfor (62) for sexually assaulting the girl, police said on Tuesday.

The victim has been medically examined at GMCH. The Child Welfare Committee and SMRX have been informed about the incident. Legal action has been initiated by registering an FIR against the arrested accused under section 64(2)(f)(m) of the POCSO Act.
