Kolkata, 11 February (H.S): Senior officials of the Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) held an informal meeting on Tuesday at the Sona Masjid border post in Bangladesh. The meeting aimed to enhance security along the India-Bangladesh border and strengthen mutual cooperation.

The discussions were led by BSF South Bengal Frontier Inspector General (IG) Maninder P.S. Pawar and BGB North-West Region Commander Brigadier General S.M. Zahidur Rahman. The meeting took place amid concerns raised by BGB over BSF’s fencing efforts in certain border areas.

According to a BSF statement, the meeting covered key issues such as preventing cross-border crimes, intensifying joint efforts, monitoring developmental activities in border regions, and implementing effective measures to curb illegal movements.

IG of the South Bengal Frontier emphasized the need for stronger cooperation between BSF and BGB to maintain border security and regional stability. He stated that enhanced coordination between the two forces would not only fortify border security but also elevate bilateral relations to new heights.

Both commanders reaffirmed their commitment to increasing collaboration and tackling security challenges together. They also agreed that BSF and BGB would continue their joint efforts to uphold peace and cooperation along the border while working towards the shared vision of stability and progress for both nations.
