New Delhi, 30 December (HS): The Railway Ministry will offer a 3 per cent discount on the purchase of unreserved tickets through the RailOne app using any digital payment mode from January 14 to July 14, 2026, an official communication said.
At present, a 3 per cent cashback is provided for booking unreserved tickets on the RailOne app through R-wallet payments. Under the revised arrangement, the discount will be extended to all digital payment modes used on the app.
“In order to promote digital booking, it has been decided to provide a discount of 3 per cent while booking unreserved tickets through all digital payment modes on the RailOne app,” the ministry said in a letter dated December 30, addressed to the Centre for Railway Information System for necessary software modifications.
The ministry said the proposal will remain in force from January 14, 2026, to July 14, 2026, and feedback on its implementation will be reviewed in May for further examination. It clarified that the existing 3 per cent cashback facility for bookings made through R-wallet on the RailOne app will continue.
An official said that while the current system offers cashback for payments made through R-wallet, the new initiative will provide a direct discount for all digital payment options on the RailOne app. The discount will not be applicable on any other platform for online purchase of unreserved tickets.
