
New Delhi, 30 December (H.S.): Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will be on an official visit to Kolkata on Tuesday, where he is scheduled to participate in two key engagements, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced through its official handle on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the party statement, Shah will address a press conference at 11:30 a.m. at Hotel AltAir in Kolkata. The interaction with the media is expected to focus on crucial political and organizational developments ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.
Following the press engagement, the Union Minister will attend the BJP’s state core committee meeting at the same venue around 1:30 p.m. Senior party leaders, including Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar and Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari, are expected to join the deliberations.Party sources said that Shah’s visit aims to review the BJP’s organizational preparedness and political strategy in West Bengal, where the party continues its efforts to strengthen grassroots connect in the run-up to upcoming elections.Security arrangements have been heightened across major parts of Kolkata ahead of the minister’s arrival, officials confirmed.
