Chennai, 29 December (H.S.) : Bharatiya Janata Party State President Nainar Nagenthran on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Dravidian Model government, alleging that Tamil Nadu has come under the absolute grip of alcohol.
Expressing deep shock over the recent sexual assault of a seven year old girl by an intoxicated youth near Kulithalai in Karur district, the leader stated that women and minor girls are increasingly falling victim to youngsters influenced by liquor.
The BJP chief took to social media to express his anguish, stating that as a father, the news of the child being assaulted while playing was heartbreaking. He prayed for the mental and physical recovery of the victim while criticizing the state government for its failure to ensure safety.
Nagenthran ridiculed the Chief Minister’s claims of a drug free state, asserting that the administration should feel ashamed for its inability to protect women despite organizing events to glorify women achievers.
Further intensifying his criticism, Nagenthran stated that the prevalence of TASMAC shops has led to an increase in violent crimes across the state. He demanded that the DMK government take deterrent and merciless action against the culprit involved in the heinous crime against the minor.
The leader also warned that if the state fails to deliver justice and ensure safety, the people would deliver their verdict through the mandate in the upcoming Assembly elections next year.
The BJP president emphasized that the safety of women has been severely compromised under the current rule. He called for immediate systemic changes to curb the influence of alcohol among the youth to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
The party maintains that the rising crime rate is a direct consequence of the state's reliance on liquor revenue, which has created a dangerous environment for the public.
