
Bhubaneswar, 29 December (H.S.): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday filed a preliminary chargesheet in connection with the alleged Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination scam, naming 16 individuals, including the alleged mastermind, Shankar Prusty. The chargesheet has been submitted before the designated court along with documentary and material evidence supporting the investigation.
Other accused named in the chargesheet include Muna Mohanty, Suresh Nayak, Soumya Priyadarshini Samal, Rinku Maharana, Biranchi Nayak, and Nitish Kumar, among others, whose roles are currently under scrutiny.
Sources indicated that nine of the 16 accused had been previously arrested by the Odisha Crime Branch during the initial phase of the investigation. The remaining seven were taken into custody by the CBI after it assumed charge of the probe and were produced before the court following custodial interrogation.
The chargesheet documents the alleged involvement of the accused in irregularities observed in the SI recruitment examination and is based on the findings of the investigation conducted so far.
