Rains forecast across TN for next three days, fishermen warned against venturing into sea

Chennai, 29 December (H.S.) : The India Meteorological Department has forecast moderate rainfall across several parts of Tamil Nadu over the next three days. This weather pattern is attributed to an active atmospheric circulation currently prevailing over the Comorin region and the adjoining southeast Arabian Sea.

According to official weather reports, delta districts including Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, and Pudukkottai are likely to receive moderate showers starting Monday, with similar conditions expected to persist over parts of southern and northern Tamil Nadu.

While interior parts of the state are predicted to experience generally dry weather, isolated spells of rain may occur in certain regions. The department further noted that minimum temperatures across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are likely to remain two to three degrees Celsius below normal.

Colder conditions are expected in high altitude hilly regions such as the Nilgiris and Kodaikanal, where chances of frost or significant cold spells have been identified. In Chennai, the maximum temperature is expected to hover around thirty degrees Celsius, with early morning mist potentially affecting visibility.

The authorities have issued a strong advisory to fishermen, cautioning them against venturing into the sea along the southern Tamil Nadu coast, the Gulf of Mannar, and the adjoining Kumari sea region. Wind speeds in these areas are expected to reach up to sixty five kilometers per hour, creating rough and potentially dangerous sea conditions.

An official statement from the department advised fishermen to remain onshore until weather conditions improve. Local authorities have been instructed to maintain high vigilance and ensure timely dissemination of warnings to all coastal communities to ensure safety.
