
South 24 Paragnas, 28 December (H.S.): The body of a female home guard was recovered from the Canning police quarters in South 24 Parganas. The deceased home guard has been identified as Gulzan Parveen Molla alias Reshmi (22). The family of the deceased home guard has levelled serious allegations of murder against a sub-inspector of Canning police station.
As per information, Gulzan Parveen Molla was a resident of Uttar Maukhali area under Jibantala police station and was working as a home guard at Canning police station. She went to the quarters behind the Canning police station after her duty on Friday. Repeated calls to her went unanswered. Attempts to contact her continued throughout Saturday, but to no avail. Worried, her family members then went to the Canning police station. Her sister, Rukhsana Khatun, went directly to the quarters. As soon as the door was opened, Reshmi's body was found hanging from the ceiling with a veil around her neck.
On information, Canning police reached the scene, brought the body down, and sent it for post-mortem.The police have launched an investigation into the entire matter.
The family stated that Gulzan's father, Rashid Molla, was murdered two years ago during the panchayat elections in Bhangur. Following this, Gulzan, the eldest daughter, got a job as a home guard.
Gulzan's family has filed a written complaint against Sub-Inspector Sayan Bhattacharya of Canning police station. The family alleged that Gulzan and Sayan Bhattacharya had an extramarital affair, and she was murdered after this came to light. However, the police said that a fair investigation is being conducted, taking all aspects into consideration.
