28 Dec (HS): An explosion happened during fire exercise at the guarded Badkala
firing range here on Sunday, injuring four Army servicemen, authorities said. Superintendent
of Police (Rural) Sagar Jain stated that the incident occurred on Saturday evening
during normal fire drills. An explosion occurred unexpectedly, wounding four
Army troops, he added. Police from Mirzapur and Behat raced to the scene and
transported the injured troops to the Behat Primary Health Center.
Jain
stated that two of the injured were later sent to the district hospital owing
to the severity of their condition. Suresh (45), Pavitra (35), Deepak (27), and
Praveen (30) were the four wounded persons. Deepak and Suresh are now having
therapy, he added. According to Jain, Army sources have confirmed that all four
servicemen are safe and receiving adequate medical treatment. An investigation
is being performed to determine the cause of the explosion and to prevent such
accidents in the future, he added.
