(HS): Acting on a direction by the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court, Nagpur’s
Commissioner of Police Dr Ravindra Kumar Singal has instructed all police
stations to strictly enforce penalties against those selling and using Nylon
Manja (Nylon threat for kite flying). The court has directed to impose a fine
of Rs 2.50 lakh for sale and Rs 50,000 for using the banned Nylon Manja.
Dr Singal has
directed to register offences under the Section 15 of Environment Protection
Act, 1986, and Section 223 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against those
violating the directions..
The direction is
aimed at curb serious threat by Nylon Manja to lives of birds, animals and
human beings. Besides monitoring counter sale, companies and distributes online
are also under scanner of the police.
The Police
Commissioner has also appealed to the people to understand that using Nylon
Manja is not just illegal, but life threatening. They should voluntarily
refrain from using it.
