26 Dec (HS): A heart-wrenching case related to love affair has come to light in

Gonda district. A young woman committed suicide by jumping in front of a train

near Pipri village on Gonda-Lucknow railway line, while at a distance of about

100 meters, the body of her lover was found hanging from a tree. The incident

spread sensation in the entire area. The deceased has been identified as

Lakshmi Maurya (20), resident of Gulriha police station Visheshwarganj,

district Bahraich. The deceased has been identified as Neeraj Maurya (25),

resident of Bakhariya Jhala police station Kaudiya.

According

to the police, after Laxmi left her home on December 21, a case of kidnapping

was registered at Visheshwarganj police station on the complaint of her family

members. On December 24, Laxmi's statement was recorded before the magistrate

in Bahraich, in which she declared herself an adult and said that she was

living with Neeraj. On Thursday night, railway employees informed the police

about the body of a young woman lying on the tracks near Pipri village. The

police reached the spot and found Laxmi's body on the tracks. During

investigation, Neeraj's body was found hanging from a noose from a tree about

100 meters away. Blood stains were also found on the young man's shoes.

In

this regard, Inspector Narendra Pratap Rai said that based on evidence found at

the scene, it appears that the young woman committed suicide by being hit by a

train, after which her lover hanged himself from a tree. Police have sent both

bodies for post-mortem examination and a thorough investigation is underway.
