New Delhi, 24 December (H.S.): President Droupadi Murmu called upon Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) officers on Wednesday to embrace swift, transparent, and technology-driven financial management attuned to evolving security dynamics. She emphasized that their role remains pivotal in ensuring operational readiness for defence forces and building a self-reliant defence ecosystem.
Addressing the 2024 batch of IDAS probationers here, the President underscored that IDAS officers manage critical financial resources for armed forces and affiliated organizations. Their expansive responsibilities encompass budgeting, accounting, auditing, payments, financial advisory, and ensuring transparency in defence expenditure, directly impacting operational preparedness and infrastructure development.
The President urged officers to deeply comprehend the unique challenges, harsh conditions, and operational realities confronting the armed forces. Highlighting shifting geopolitical landscapes and emerging security threats, she stressed the imperative for rapid, astute, and precise decision-making amid increasingly complex, technology-centric processes.
Consequently, the defence accounts department must advance continuous adaptation, innovation, and modernization.
Stressing the need to accelerate the government's Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign, President Murmu advocated promoting indigenous production, fortifying local supply chains, and bolstering domestic industries as imperatives of the era.
IDAS officers, she noted, can play a transformative role in forging a self-reliant and robust defence ecosystem.
Finally, she exhorted officers to cultivate a lifelong learning mindset, remain inquisitive, and embrace change with confidence. True service value, she affirmed, resides not in positions or recognition but in sustained contributions toward seamless institutional functioning and citizen welfare.
