Guwahati, December 23 (HS): Panbazar Police in Guwahati arrested two alleged drug peddlers and seized heroin during a targeted operation based on specific intelligence inputs, officials said on Tuesday.

According to police, a team from Panbazar Police Station conducted the operation near Gate No. 3 of the railway area earlier in the day, leading to the apprehension of the two suspects along with the contraband.

During a search, police recovered 14 vials of suspected heroin weighing 21.1 grams, concealed inside a black polythene bag, along with cash amounting to ₹420. The arrested individuals have been identified as Alimon Begum of Darrang district and Sohid Ali of Dhubri district.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and further legal proceedings are underway accordingly, police added.-----------
