Dibrugarh/Tinsukia (Assam), 23 December (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday reiterated the state government’s commitment to making women self-reliant, stating that empowering women through entrepreneurship remains a key objective of his administration.

The Chief Minister was addressing two public meetings held in the Chabua–Lahowal Assembly constituency and the Makum Assembly constituency, where he formally launched the distribution of seed capital cheques under the Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneurship Mission. The initiative aims to provide financial support to women to help them take the first step towards self-employment and economic independence.

In the Chabua–Lahowal Assembly constituency, a total of 21,198 women beneficiaries received cheques of ₹10,000 each under the scheme. Similarly, in the Makum Assembly constituency, 22,069 women beneficiaries were provided with seed capital assistance of ₹10,000 each.

Dr Sarma expressed confidence that the women beneficiaries would utilise the financial assistance effectively to build sustainable livelihoods and strengthen their economic footing. He said the government believes every woman has the potential to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the state’s growth through entrepreneurship.---------
