RPF/PLA Cadre Nabbed in Imphal West; Arms Recovered in Separate Operation

Security forces have arrested a 51-year-old active member of the banned Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) during a focused operation carried out in Imphal West district, officials confirmed.

The arrested cadre has been identified as Kshetrimayum Nilakanta Singh, also known by the aliases Kanta and Mangal. He is a resident of Kakching Turel Wangma in Kakching district and was also staying at Langjing Achouba Awang Leikai in Imphal West. He was apprehended from Takyel Kolom Leikai Leirak-6 under the jurisdiction of Lamphel Police Station.

During the operation, security personnel recovered two mobile phones and a driving licence from his possession. Officials said that further investigation is in progress to determine his exact role and involvement in activities linked to the outlawed organisation.

Meanwhile, in another operation conducted in last 24 hours, security forces recovered arms and communication equipment from the Konaitong and Pelyang hill range under Machi Police Station in Tengnoupal district. The seized items included two improvised mortars and three wireless communication sets.

Officials stated that the arrest and recoveries are part of intensified counter-insurgency measures aimed at breaking militant networks and strengthening peace and security across the region.-------------
