
Kamrup (Assam), 23 December (HS): Rangia Police in Kamrup (Rural) district have arrested a youth for allegedly posting messages on social media supporting the brutal killing of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh.
Police said on Tuesday that the accused, who runs a tea stall at Highway Chowk in Rangia, had posted content endorsing the murder through Facebook and Instagram accounts under the name “Bulla Chaiwala.” Following these posts, several Hindu organisations lodged complaints with the police.
Acting on the complaints, police arrested the youth and registered a case in connection with the matter. The accused has been identified as Sheikh Akhtar Ali, a resident of Ward No. 3 in Rangia.
Police officials said further investigation is underway and the arrested person is being interrogated intensively in connection with the case.------------
