Baghpat,

22 Dec (HS): Women's Commission Chairperson Babita Chauhan, who visited the

Baghpat Public Works Department Guest House on Monday, supported Bihar Chief

Minister Nitish Kumar's statement regarding the removal of the hijab. She said

that when women wear the hijab, it becomes difficult to identify them. She

argued that concealing the face in public places is not appropriate, as these

are places where identity is revealed. She said that if the government is

working for women, then identification should not be a problem.

Women's

Commission Chairperson Babita Chauhan attended a public hearing for women in

Baghpat on Monday. She inspected the District Women's Hospital, instructing

officials to address gaps in information about programs. Chauhan also directed

the organization of camps to widely publicize Mission Shakti and women's

helpline numbers. She stated that the government is committed to women's

empowerment and that women should come forward to assert their rights.

Women's

Commission Chairperson Babita Chauhan held a press conference at the PWD Guest

House. During the conference, she defended Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on

the hijab issue. She stated that when women wear hijabs, they are difficult to

identify. She argued that concealing one's face when visiting an office or

public place is not appropriate, as these are places where one must demonstrate

identity. She cited the example of requiring a passport, driver's license, or

voter ID card, and therefore, there should be no objection to this. She accused

the opposition of unnecessarily raising the issue, saying they have no other

issues. The opposition should understand that where identification is required,

there is no need for a veil.
