Chennai, 22 December (H.S.) : The delay in finalizing a strong alliance for the upcoming general elections has started to impact the morale of workers within the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam led National Democratic Alliance in Tamil Nadu.
With polling just four months away, the lack of clarity regarding potential partners has slowed down grassroots mobilization. While the ruling party maintains a confident front with a stable coalition, the opposition camp is currently awaiting formal commitments from several regional parties to infuse fresh energy into their campaign.
The leadership is closely monitoring the positions of the Pattali Makkal Katchi, the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, and the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam. Internal power struggles within the PMK and the death of clarity from the DMDK have created a sense of uncertainty.
Reports suggest that the PMK is dealing with internal leadership differences, while the DMDK is expected to announce its final decision only by early January. Furthermore, the AMMK remains hesitant to rejoin the front despite various appeals from the alliance partners, which has further complicated the seat sharing process.
Bharatiya Janata Party State secretary A Ashvathaman stated that election related activities are expected to gain significant pace only after the Pongal festival. He mentioned that while the primary parties are strong enough to face the elections, discussions with like minded groups are still ongoing to ensure a formidable front.
Authorities within the alliance hope that the festive season will bring a turnaround in negotiations, allowing the cadre to begin sustained field level work across the state to challenge the current administration effectively.
