New Delhi, 21 December (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to commence a momentous day in Assam today on Sunday,with a profound tribute to the martyrs of the historic Assam Movement at Swahid Smarak Kshetra in Boragaon, Guwahati, around 9:45 a.m., where he will be paying homage to their enduring sacrifices in the six-year struggle for a foreigner-free state and the preservation of indigenous identity.

Solemn Homage at Martyrs' Memorial

The Prime Minister will be honoring the 860 martyrs of the 1979-1985 Assam Agitation by offering floral tributes at the eternal lamp, the martyrs' gallery, and the statue of Khargeswar Talukdar, the movement's first casualty, in a gesture marking the first such visit by a sitting premier and underscoring national reverence for Assam's collective resolve against illegal immigration.

Bhoomipujan for Namrup Fertilizer Vanguard

Following the memorial, Prime Minister Modi will be traveling to Namrup in Dibrugarh district to perform the Bhoomipujan for the brownfield Ammonia-Urea Fertilizer Project of the Assam Valley Fertilizer and Chemical Company Limited, located within the Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited premises, with an investment exceeding Rs. 10,600 crore that will be addressing fertilizer needs of Assam and neighboring states while curtailing imports, creating thousands of jobs, and fueling regional economic vitality.

Visionary Leap for Farmers and Industry

As part of his ongoing two-day sojourn unveiling projects worth Rs. 15,600 crore, the Prime Minister will be addressing gatherings at both venues, emphasizing the fertilizer initiative's alignment with Atmanirbhar Bharat and farmers' welfare, thereby laying the groundwork for agricultural self-reliance, industrial revival, and sustainable progress across the Northeast.
