
Nagpur, 20 Dec
(HS): The death toll in Avada Industries in Butibori MIDC in Nagpur has
risen to six. The water tank with a capacity of 1,225 Kilo Litre breached with
a blast while carrying out hydro testing on Friday. Three workers died on the
site, while three others died during treatment in the hospital.
The newly
constructed metallic water tank was being tested on Friday when it blasted. Three
workers with the force of the water and under the debris of the tank died on the
site, while the other three lost their lives during treatment in the hospital.
Ten others have been hospitalised with serious injuries.
Chief Minister
Devendra Fadnavis announced a financial support of Rs 5 lakh each to the
families of the deceased, while the Company has announced Rs 30 lakh for the
families of the deceased, and Rs 10 lakh for the injured. The Company will also
bear the expenses on treatment of the injured workers.
The Directorate of
Industrial Safety and Health has been directed to conduct enquiry into the
incident. The report of the enquiry will be submitted within a month.
