Kolkata, 20 December (H.S.): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Malviya on Saturday expressed concern over alleged incidents of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh and West Bengal through a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He said the killing of Dalit Hindu Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh was deeply disturbing. According to Malviya, Dipu Chandra Das was attacked by extremists and later set on fire, resulting in his death.
Amit Malviya also referred to another incident in Murshidabad, West Bengal. He wrote that people cannot forget the brutal murder of Hargobindo Das and his son Chandan Das, who were allegedly dragged out of their home and killed by Muslim extremists. Malviya claimed that these incidents share similarities and point to a dangerous pattern of targeted violence against Hindus.
In his post, the BJP leader said that the safety and dignity of Hindus in West Bengal should be given top priority. Taking an indirect dig at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he said that political calculations should never take precedence over law and order and human rights. He alleged that silence or denial emboldens elements that consider violence acceptable.
Amit Malviya also stated that ignoring the pain and suffering of Bengali Hindus comes at a heavy price. He emphasized that it is time to ensure accountability, deliver justice to the victims, and provide security to Hindus.
However, there was no reaction from the Trinamool Congress to Malviya's statement at the time of filing of this report.
