Thiruvananthapuram, 20 Dec (H.S.): The Additional Sessions Court will pronounce its verdict today on the anticipatory bail application filed by film director PT Kunjumuhammed, who has been accused in a sexual assault case.

The hearing on the petition concluded after extensive arguments presented by both the defence and the prosecution.

During the proceedings, the defence claimed that the case was fabricated and alleged that the complaint was the result of a conspiracy to tarnish the director’s reputation.

They also questioned the 21-day delay in lodging the complaint with the police.

The defence argued that the complainant, being an educated individual, chose to submit the complaint directly to the Chief Minister instead of approaching the police—an act they described as unusual and suggestive of ulterior motives.

Rejecting these arguments, the prosecution maintained that the director is accused of committing a serious offence.

They explained that the complainant had faced health issues after the incident and decided to proceed with legal action only after consulting her family, which accounted for the delay.

The prosecution further asserted that there were no political motives behind the complaint and dismissed the defence’s claim of conspiracy.

The court’s verdict today is expected to determine whether the director will be granted anticipatory bail or face arrest as the investigation continues.
