Hooghly, 19 December (H.S.): Bidhannagar police have arrested three more people in connection with the vandalism at the Yuva Bharati Krirangan stadium. The stadium became a scene of chaos last Saturday during Lionel Messi's visit, with people rioting, breaking chairs, and toppling goalposts. Following the incident, six people were arrested in two phases on charges of vandalism. This latest round of arrests brings the total number of people apprehended in connection with the incident to nine. Meanwhile, the police also raided the home of Shatadru Dutta, the main organizer of Messi's event, on Friday.
According to sources, these three individuals were arrested after examining various photographs and video footage from the Yuva Bharati stadium. The arrested individuals have been identified as Raju Das alias Gopal Das, Soumyadeep Das alias Pappu, and Tanmay Dey alias Dushtu. According to Bidhannagar police sources, the trio were arrested from Lake Town and Nagar Bazar. The police hope that questioning them will yield significant information about the vandalism at Yuva Bharati.
In addition, the police also searched Shatadru Dutta's house in Rishra on Friday. Five officers from Bidhannagar South police station, including a female officer, along with the police from Rishra police station, arrived at Shatadru's residence. However, only a maid was present at the house. Besides questioning her, the officers conducted a thorough search of the luxurious house.
