17 Dec (HS): A two-day hands-on training program on Plant Tissue Culture

Techniques concluded successfully at Sam Higginbottom University of

Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS), drawing enthusiastic

participation from students, research scholars and budding biotechnologists.

The

program was organized by the Centre for Tissue Culture Technology, Jacob

Institute for Biotechnology and Bioengineering, SHUATS, Prayagraj in

collaboration with Department of Botany, Ewing Christian College, Prayagraj.

The training was designed to provide practical exposure to advanced techniques

in plant tissue culture. Participants received hands-on experience in various

aspects of Plant Tissue Culture. The program also highlighted the latest

advancements and applications of tissue culture in modern agriculture and

biotechnology. Throughout

the training, participants engaged in interactive lab sessions and live

demonstrations under the guidance of experienced faculty and technical staff.

Feedback from attendees reflected high levels of satisfaction, with many

expressing appreciation for the practical insights and techniques they could

apply in their academic and professional journeys.

The

valedictory session was hosted by Dr. Gurudayal R. Guru, Associate Professor,

CTCT. Dr. ir. Abhilasha J. Lal (Director, HRM & R, SHUATS), graced the

occasion as the Chief guest and in her speech, she emphasized the importance of

skill-based learning in the ever-evolving field of plant sciences. Prof. (Dr.)

S.K. Mishra (Head, Department of Botany, ECC, Prayagraj) also addressed the

participants and encouraged the gathering to contribute towards the upliftment

of farms and farming communities. Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Shukla (Head, Centre for

Tissue Culture Technology), elaborated on the objectives and structure of the

training and thanked the university for its continuous support in promoting

research and innovation. The valedictory session concluded with the

distribution of certificates to participants by guests. A vote of thanks was

given by Professor (Dr.) Eapen P. Koshy. The event was seen as a successful

initiative to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills

in plant biotechnology.

Prof.

(Dr.) Rubina Lawrence (Head, Industrial Microbiology and Associate Dean,

Academics, JIBB), Prof. (Dr.) Veeru Prakash (Associate Dean, Administration,

JIBB) and Dr. Rajiv Kant (Head, Computational Biology and Bioinformatics) also

graced the occasion. Prof.

(Dr.) Pragati Shukla extended deep sense of gratitude to the Rev. Prof. (Dr.)

R. B. Lal (Vice-Chancellor), Prof. (Dr.) Jonathan A. Lal, Pro-Vice

Chancellor-Academics affairs and also appreciated the untiring efforts of all

the staff members of Centre for Tissue Culture Technology.
