Jalgaon, 17 Dec (HS): The discussion between the
Maha-Vikas Aghadi (MVA) partners for the municipal corporation elections failed
in Jalgaon, following which Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) and Shiv
Sena (UBT) announced contesting the elections independently. The announcements
were made through a press conference on Wednesday.
During the meeting of MVA, Sharad Pawar Group
demanded 32 seats. UBT, however was ready for 10 to `5 seats for the Pawar
group. Some names of the candidates were also discussed. As both the groups could
not come to a settlement on sharing seats, members of Sharad Pawar Group walked
out and both the groups decided to contest the polls without any alliance.
Meanwhile, former Union Minister Jaisinghrao Gaikwad
started interviews with the aspirant candidates. Former Guardian Minister
Eknath Khadse’s absence during the meeting also led to speculations in the
political circles.
