Kolkata, 10 December (H.S.) :

Friends of Tribals Society (FTS) Youth Cell on Wednesday announced the seventh edition of its flagship event, Ekal Run, scheduled to take place on January 4, 2026, at Godrej Waterside, Kolkata. The event will be inaugurated by national-level badminton star Saina Nehwal.

The annual event serves as a major platform to promote health, community participation, and raise funds for the education of rural and tribal children through the Ekal School initiative. Organizers said the event will feature multiple categories, including 21 km, 10 km, 5 km races, and a 3 km fun run without timing, ensuring participation across all age groups.

Speaking at a media conference, FTS Youth President Rishabh Sarawgi said, “We are proud to welcome Saina Nehwal as the inaugurator. Her achievements and journey of perseverance reflect our organization’s values of determination, excellence, inspiration, and empowerment. This event not only encourages fitness but also supports socially meaningful causes like rural children’s education.”

Gaurav Bagla, National Coordinator of Ekal Run, added, “Ekal Run is more than just a marathon; it is a social initiative aimed at building a brighter future for rural India. Saina Nehwal’s presence will motivate participants and strengthen community engagement.”

Organizers expressed confidence that, following the overwhelming support and enthusiasm in previous editions, this year will also see significant participation and fundraising. The proceeds will further enhance educational opportunities for rural and tribal children through the Ekal School project.
