Sonitpur (Assam), 04 November (HS): The Ambassador of France to India, Thierry Mathou, visited Nameri National Park in Assam’s Sonitpur district along with his family. During the visit, Ambassador Mathou inspected the Nameri National Park and Tiger Project, appreciating the ongoing initiatives under the Assam Project on Forest and Biodiversity Conservation (APFBC) - Phase II, implemented since 2020 with the support of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD).

The ambassador was accompanied by AFD India Director Laise Breuil, French Consul General in Kolkata Thierry Morel and Charge de Mission for Influence and Cooperation Samyel Bouchard. They were joined by APCCF and APFBC Project Director Anurag Singh.

The team attended a meeting at the Potasali Range Office of the national park and later took a jeep safari from Potasali to Jia Bharali, during which they lauded the park’s conservation management efforts. The ambassador also launched the official website of Nameri National Park during a brief ceremony held prior to the safari.
