
Howrah, 24 November (H.S.): A pool car, carrying school children lost control and plunged directly into a pond in Uluberia area of Howrah district on Monday afternoon. Three schoolchildren are reported dead in the accident.
According to local sources, the accident occurred around 3 p.m. The pool car was carrying five students from a local school. Near Bahira village, the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle, and the car along with the children, plunged into a deep pond.
As soon as the vehicle plunged into the pond, people nearby heard screams and rushed to the scene. The police were immediately informed. Locals initiated the rescue efforts, attempting to rescue the children. Divers were subsequently called in, and a search operation was launched.
The incident has sparked grief and outrage throughout the area. The police are investigating the cause of the accident, while the injured children and driver were taken to the hospital for first aid.
The administration has expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and ordered an investigation.
