Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team for creating history by winning the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup
. He lauded the team for their unbeaten run throughout the tournament, describing it as a shining example of hard work, teamwork, and determination.
In the final held on Sunday in Colombo, Sri Lanka, India secured a convincing seven-wicket victory over Nepal. After restricting Nepal to 114 for 5, the Indian team chased down the target in just 12.1 overs, capping a flawless campaign.
Phula Saren was instrumental in the final, scoring a match-winning 44 runs off just 27 balls.In a post on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister celebrated the historic sporting achievement and stated that each player is a champion!. He emphasized that the team's dedication has brought glory to the nation and that their remarkable feat will inspire generations to come.
The Indian team dominated the tournament from the start, registering victories against Sri Lanka, Australia, Nepal, the USA, and Pakistan in the league phase before defeating Australia again in the semi-final to book their place in the championship match.
