
Delhi, 13 November (H.S.): Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Canadian Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development Maninder Sidhu co-chaired the 7th India-Canada Ministerial Dialogue on Trade and Investment (MDTI) in New Delhi on Thursday.
According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the two ministers discussed ways to boost bilateral trade and promote investment between the two nations. Sidhu is visiting India to explore opportunities for advancing trade and investment linkages between Canada and India.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Goyal posted on X (formerly Twitter) that it was a pleasure to co-chair the 7th India-Canada Ministerial Dialogue on Trade and Investment as part of the New Roadmap 2025.
Goyal stated that discussions with Canada's Minister of International Trade Maninder Sidhu focused on avenues to strengthen bilateral trade, promote investments, and deepen cooperation between the two countries.The meeting marked a renewed phase of engagement aimed at reinvigorating bilateral trade and investment ties and setting a forward-looking agenda for cooperation, in line with the Joint Statement Renewing Momentum towards a Stronger Partnership of October 13, 2025, which identified trade as the cornerstone of bilateral economic growth and resilience.
India was Canada's seventh-largest goods and services trading partner in 2024, with two-way trade valued at $30.9 billion. Bilateral trade surpassed $30 billion in 2024, demonstrating the expanding commercial ties between both nations.
