
Delhi, 13 November (H.S.): The three-day winning streak in the stock markets came to a halt on Thursday, the fourth trading day of the week . A weak sentiment in global markets, coupled with capital outflows from foreign investors, impacted domestic market performance.
Both benchmark indices, the Sensex and Nifty, closed with marginal gains after a volatile session.At the close of trading, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex ended with a slight gain of 12.16 points, or 0.014%, at 84,478.67.
During the day, the Sensex surged to a high of 84,919.43 and touched a low of 84,253.05 . Similarly, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty managed to close 3.35 points, or 0.013%, higher at 25,879.15.Among the 30 companies included in the Sensex, stocks of Asian Paints, ICICI Bank, PowerGrid, L&T, Bajaj Finserv, Bharti Airtel, and Sun Pharma registered gains.
On the other hand, shares of Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Steel, Infosys, and Hindustan Unilever were under pressure.In other Asian markets, indices in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea closed with gains, while European markets were trading lower.
Brent crude futures fell 0.29% to $62.53 per barrel .A day earlier, on Wednesday, the stock market had witnessed a strong rally, with the BSE Sensex closing at 84,466.51 after a jump of 595.19 points, or 0.71% . The NSE Nifty had closed at 25,875.80, up by 180.85 points, or 0.70%.
