New Delhi, 6 January (HS) : Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi on Monday visited the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp at Delhi Cantt. He encouraged the NCC cadets to carry the principles of the organization to every corner of the country with high spirit and enthusiasm. The Navy Chief appreciated the NCC cadets for their high standards of performance and impeccable appearance.
The CNS also appreciated the community development programs of NCC, such as Swachhata Pakhwada, plantation drives, blood donation camps, cancer awareness programs and initiatives like Punit Sagar Abhiyan. He also reiterated Swami Vivekananda's thought 'Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is achieved' to the cadets and said that as the country with the youngest population in the world, NCC represents a miniature India, which will lead the country towards a developed India. Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi congratulated Director General Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh for displaying exemplary vision and leadership in bringing glory to the NCC.
The Chief of the Naval Staff gave the mantra to the cadets that to succeed and achieve goals, one must have a blend of attitude and aptitude, self-confidence, character and commitment and self-discipline. The Chief of the Naval Staff described the collaboration between NCC and Indian Navy as a great example of synergy and partnership. He informed that last year more than 200 cadets underwent training at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala. 100 cadets underwent training in sailing at Goa, Kochi and Vizag. About 250 cadets underwent sea training at Vizag and Mumbai. 20 cadets travelled on board Naval ships of 1 Training Squadron and visited 10 countries as part of Over Seas Deployment (OSD). 150 cadets undertook a sea voyage on INSV Tarangini from Mumbai to Vizag.
The Navy Chief further said that the Indian Navy also organised All India Naval Camp at INS Shivaji, Lonavala and All India Sailing Regatta at INS Chilka under which cadets visited various countries as OSDs on naval ships to gain global experience. He praised the participation of a large number of NCC cadets in the coastal security exercise 'Sea Vigil'. In the end, the Navy Chief remembered the late Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee and recited his famous poem 'Kadam Milkar Chalna Hoga'. He visited the 'Hall of Fame' where he was briefed about the rich history of NCC. He also observed the 'Cultural Programme' of the cadets at the NCC Auditorium.
