Guwahati, 05 January (HS): Patharughat in Assam, where more than 140 farmers laid down their lives for justice, is getting national recognition. On January 28, the Government of India will issue a commemorative postage stamp commemorating their sacrifice.
This decision honours the historic event of the Patharughat rebellion and the courage of the farmers against British rule.
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said, I express my gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for this historic step.
