New Delhi, January 30 (HS): The domestic stock market was able to close with strength for the third consecutive day today. Today's trading started with a slight increase. Due to the ongoing tussle between buyers and sellers during the day's trading, the stock market kept fluctuating. After the whole day's trading, the Sensex closed with a strength of 0.30 percent and Nifty with a strength of 0.37 percent.
Today, during the day's trading, there was continuous buying in the shares of realty, public sector enterprise and oil and gas sector. Similarly, banking, capital goods, FMCG, pharmaceutical and metal indices also managed to close with strength. On the other hand, there was selling in IT, tech, consumer durable and automobile sectors. There was continuous fluctuation in the broader market today as well. After the day's trading, the BSE mid-cap index closed with a decline of 0.04 percent. On the other hand, the smallcap index ended today's trading with a gain of 0.02 percent.
Due to the strength in the stock market today, the wealth of stock market investors increased by more than Rs 1.25 lakh crore. The market capitalization of companies listed on the BSE increased to Rs 418.04 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading. Whereas on the previous trading day i.e. Wednesday, their market capitalization was Rs 416.75 lakh crore. In this way, investors made a profit of about Rs 1.29 lakh crore from today's trading.
Today, during the day's trading, there was active trading in 4,074 shares in BSE. Of these, 2,139 shares closed with a gain, while 1,811 shares declined, while 124 shares closed without any fluctuation. Today, there was active trading in 2,558 shares in NSE. Out of these, 1,424 stocks closed in the green mark after making profit and 1,134 stocks closed in the red mark after suffering loss. Similarly, out of the 30 stocks included in the Sensex, 19 stocks closed with a gain and 11 stocks closed with a decline. Whereas, out of the 50 stocks included in the Nifty, 35 stocks closed in the green mark and 15 stocks closed in the red mark.
The BSE Sensex opened today with a gain of 65.88 points at the level of 76,598.84 points. As soon as the trading started, there was a competition between the buyers and the sellers to dominate each other, due to which there was constant fluctuation in the movement of this index. With the support of buying, this index jumped 429.92 points to reach 76,962.88 points. At the same time, due to selling pressure, it also dived to 76,401.13 points with a weakness of 131.83. After the whole day's trading, the Sensex closed at 76,759.81 with a gain of 226.85 points. Like the Sensex, NSE's Nifty started trading today with a symbolic gain of 6.40 points at the level of 23,169.50 points. As soon as the market opened, a tussle started between the buyers and sellers, due to which the movement of this index also kept going up and down continuously. With the support of buying, the Nifty jumped 158.95 points to reach the level of 23,322.05 points, while due to selling pressure, it fell to 23,139.20 points with a weakness of 23.90 points. After the buying and selling throughout the day, the Nifty closed at 23,249.50 points with a gain of 86.40 points. After the day's trading, among the big stocks of the stock market, Bharat Electronics 4.32 percent, Power Grid Corporation 2.61 percent, Hero MotoCorp 2.59 percent, Bharti Airtel 2.52 percent and Cipla 2.35 percent were included in the list of today's top 5 gainers. On the other hand, Tata Motors 7.40 percent, Adani Enterprises 2.85 percent, Shriram Finance 2.75 percent, Bajaj Finserv 2.52 percent and Adani Ports 1.81 percent were included in the list of today's top 5 losers.
