Prayagraj,
17 January (H.S.): Spiritual leader Sadhguru visited the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj
on Wednesday, Thursday. During his visit Sadhguru also met the revered head of
the Juna Akhara, Swami Avdheshanand Giri ji and had meaningful discussions.
“For many centuries, the Akharas have been a source of guidance and support for
seekers of mukti. Glad to see Swamiji and Juna Akhara at the forefront in
organizing facilities for the comfort of devotees at the Mahakumbh,”Sadhguru
said.
Talking
to reporters, Sadhguru emphasized the profound significance of the Mahakumbh.
“Mahakumbh is the greatest event on the planet. This is the only place, the
only civilization where these many people aspire for Mukti. They are not
wanting to go to heaven or looking for the pleasures of heaven. They are just
looking for freedom,” he said. He stated that the Mahakumbh is the most fantastic
thing and that it should inspire the whole world in this direction. Sadhguru
also addressed the seekers gathered for a brief darshan at Himalayan Institute,
near Nageshwar ghat.
How
to prepare for the Mahakumbh: In a recently released video, Sadhguru highlights
the profound impact of Maha Kumbh.“When water bodies meet with a certain force
at specific latitudinal positions during certain times of the year, it creates
a massive possibility of life. Two-thirds of your body is water. If you are in
spaces where water is in a certain dynamic, it impacts the body tremendously.
Especially once in every 12-year solar cycle, a moment comes when it has
maximum impact. This is the Maha Kumbh.”
Preparing
with Maha Mantra: Sadhguru encourages devotees to chant the Maha Mantra —“Aum
Namah Shivaya”—for 21 minutes each morning and evening, ideally for 21 days
before attending the Maha Kumbh. He guides practising this during the Brahma
Muhurta—before the sun rises above a 30-degree angle—and in the evening
twilight after the sun dips below 30 degrees.
“So,
you’re going to Kumbh, Maha Kumbh, which has gone on for many millennia. And at
least go prepared. Before the sun rises over thirty-degree angle and also in
the evening, after the sun goes below thirty degrees, twenty-one minutes in the
morning, twenty-one minutes in the evening, just sit in a cross-legged posture,
put yourself with great involvement, just do Mahamantra,” he says.
