Imphal, 15 January (HS): A large quantity of arms and explosives have recovered in separate operations in Manipur. Police said on Wednesday that security forces conducted search and area dominance operations in sensitive areas of Kangpokpi district. During the search at Zero Point-P1 Railway Tunnel Road (6 km north of COB Kotlen) in New Kaithalmambi police station area, two 9 mm CMG and two magazines, two indigenous single barrel rifles, one number 36 hand grenade and one Motorola (Baofeng) were recovered.
In another operation at Phayeng Ridge (between Freedom Hill and Phayeng Village), two bolt action rifles, three 9 mm pistols, one 0.32 pistol, another pistol, three No. 36 hand grenades, four electric detonators, three detonators (No. 36 grenades), two .38 mm live rounds, four 0.22 mm live rounds, four 9 mm live rounds, two tear smoke shells (SR), one gas gun shell, one tear smoke (LR) and one Baofeng radio set were recovered.
All the recovered items have been handed over to the authorities for further investigation.
