Kolkata, 14 January (H.S.): Ranaghat Police achieved significant success in their ongoing drive against adulterated food products. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a special raid on Monday night in the Baganchara area of Shantipur Block. During the operation, 2,200 kilograms of adulterated turmeric and a large quantity of equipment used in its production were seized. The details were shared by the police during a press conference on Tuesday.
The police revealed that the adulterated turmeric was being prepared using rice powder, flour, and harmful chemical dyes, which were then packaged and sold in the market. The factory owner, Loknath Saha, and his associate, Paritosh Mallick, have been arrested in connection with the case.
